Changing Your Negative Experience – Distortion Technique
There are times in our past we have actually encounter some negative experiences that is still affecting us till now. It maybe a situation where you have issue with your spouse, your boyfriends or girlfriends or even work related that it is influencing your situation. It can be so intense to the point you are having issue working in a normal state.for example you are hating a particular boss or client. Therefore distortion technique is another alternative way to help you seeing the situation of a past in a natural way.
Take a current negative experience that just happen recently to you. Now imagine it as if you are watching a television movie and play the negative experience. After that , you start reversing the movie and saw the people who talk to you walking backward till it back to the beginning of the movie show. Then replay it forward again with 3x faster and reverse it back 3x faster. Keep doing this a few times.
Next , add some funny thing into your movie. For example those in your movie suddenly had a pinnochio nose and a bunny long ears for example. They make even had a long beard suddenly . After this, watch the movie in this state with the forward and backward x3 speed for around another 8 times.
When you are able to start laughing at this experience, it mean that technique have successfully help to change how you look at a situation. The purpose of this technique is not altering what had happen but merely change how you see this in a different emotion. Now you are able to make decision and take action in a more natural state.
