P.O,D.O,Invoices – certain office usage terms you might come across

Being fresh and new in the market workforce especially for those working in office can be very confusing. Your senior may thought that you know basic term and therefore he/she say “ pass me the XXX company D.O” . You may find yourself wondering what is the person saying and can be quit difficult especially when everyone are rushing to complete their own work. I may not be able to explain in detail but I do hope that some of these common words will help you a bit.

Purchasing Order (P.O) is a letter which contain information to buy a particular product. It can be your company issue a P.O to buy item from supplier or you may be getting your company customer P.O which they are actually making an order to buy product from your company.

Delivery Order (D.O) is a piece f paper which record information of a particular item to deliver. D.O is usually send together when delivering the goods. It is important for both supplier and customer especially if there occur dispute of the delivering item is missing and whether the other side receive the good. For office usage , it is useful to keep track the process as well as to go for the next step, doing invoice or billing.

Invoice is an record with the information of products send/buy together with the products price. For most of us, it is a way of informing customer that we have perform a services on your behalf or we have send your goods and informing the customer how much they need to pay, when and methods of paying. Most company issue invoice when they are expecting the payments receive are not immediate.

Cash sales / Cash bill is a receipt for particular item sold using cash. It is similar function to receipt you receive when you buy your grocery item from a supermarket.

Memo is a form of short announcement make to a group of people or a company. For large company, they usually make memo and send to all the branches in official way.

Marketing term in office is generally related to a form of method to advertising their products.

Cold call mean salesman are making phone call to potential customer or new customer to persuade them buy the product or trying to get an appointment with customer.
