Knowing Your Personality- MBTI

Personality is the visible aspects of one character as it impress others according to dictionary meaning. There are times we come to a point that we sometimes wonder why we do that and why we don’t like the other person do. My first encounter about personality is the day I begin to wonder the action I did is different form others. Although it is not necessary to purposely search out your own personality, I found out that there are advantages. At best, you will know more about yourself, those people around you and how you will work best.

In this topic, I will be introducing the personality test introduce by Myers-Briggs known as Myers-Bridgg Type Indicator (MBTI). It was develop by Katherine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers based on Carl Gustav Jung typological theories. There are 4 types of categories and based from these 4 categories, it is expanded into 16 categories.

The first Category: Introvert (I) Versus Extrovert (E)
If you are introvert, you would generally prefer quiet place. Introvert prefers to work things on hand first before express the idea to the world. They are usually a calm collected group. They tend to get energy from being alone or work with people in structured way. Although Introvert can work in a place with many people for sometimes, if it get too tension or too long, they might feel drain. They need to rest in a quiet place to regenerate their energy. Introvert process information by doing it internally. They’ll think over an idea, polish the idea and then finally share it to others. When they speak of it, their idea is a finished product.

They love to strike conversation with almost anybody. And they love limelight. Their way of processing information is by brainstorm it with others until the idea become real. As long as they didn’t talk about it with others, it wasn’t an idea. They are more interested on things going around them than their own thoughts and feeling.

The second Category: Sensor (S) versus Intuitive (N)
In this category Sensor is people take information from 5 senses (smells, hear, touch, see and taste) more compare to the other one. They are the people who are very excellent in dealing with details. They are the types who focus on present and now. And they are generally more down to earth. They demonstrate their creativity by making more useful on something that been invented.

Intuitive types of people are people who use more of their sixth sense compare to other details. The data to them must have a meaning in it otherwise it is not useful. Because of this, they are able to see bigger picture, focus relationships and find connection between facts. They are the one who can see pattern in details. Because of their intuitive nature, they are open to new possibilities and they tend to think further. If a sensor see the detail for today, intuitive see it the detail next week. They are excellent in creative and imaginative. Because of this they are good at create marketing due to their ability are better in looking at patterns of information and determine a trend.

Category 3: Thinker (T) Versus Feeler (F)
What is right is more important compare to feeling. Goal, objective are more important to them compare to personal feeling. Thinker operate base on goal, objectives

Feeler on the hand takes thing personal. They will always believe in people come first. Feeler will value person feeling compare to objectives being set. Feeler also tends to avoid conflict and competition. They tend to be warm, friendly nature and trust instinct.

Category 4: Judger (J) versus Perceiver (P)
Judger require structured, ordered and predictable environment to be happy. They either try to organize or will complain thing in mess. To them they will work first then play. They prefer to plan ahead. Unexpected thing tend to stress them. If you are a judger, you are likely to have a clock watcher with you all the time and your diary is full of appointment, plans ahead of time.

Perceiver on the other hand prefers laid back approach. They prefer thing to unfold as they will. They thrive in a place where dynamic, ever-changing workplace is. And they like to work in a mess because it stimulates their creative thinking. They are the people who are likely to do work in last minute. But once they set on doing it, their energy power can be so super till they complete. Perceiver prefers to seek for employer than offer flexible working arrangement. They love to play, so if their work is playful and unconventional, they are a very happy person.

Once people determine their types of category, they will be able to know the type of personality which they are dominant in. ESTP; ESFP; ISTP; ISFP; ENTJ; ENTP; INTJ; INTP; ENFJ; ENFP; INFJ; INFP; ESTJ; ESFJ; ISTJ or ISFJ . Because each personality has a lot of information in it, I decide to slowly introduce it at a later time.

By taking a personality test, you know more about yourself, the people around you, where is your strength and weakness, to improve what you are good at and minimize what you are bad at and lastly, you know which area are the best for you to work at. Each of us have all the characteristics mention above, just that we need to know which one are our dominant one.
